There are many immigrants in Canada who must go through a lengthy process in order to receive their Canadian citizenship. One of the obstacles that can get in the way of obtaining your Canadian citizenship is if you have a criminal record. Sometimes, when people come to Canada from another country they are not aware of all of the rules that may be different from the rules in their country of origin and before they know it they have been arrested for something they may have assumed was legal.
Regardless, a Canada Record Suspension or Pardon is required so that the person can proceed safely with obtaining their Canadian citizenship.
