Many people tell us when they call for a Canada Record Suspension to remove an old criminal record that they have been procrastinating doing the application for a long time or that they never knew there was an opportunity to apply for a criminal record suspension.
Don’t Procrastinate Removing Your Criminal Record
No doubt it is an embarasing situation and sometimes very emotional to bring up the past. However, it is necessary to begin the process of removing your criminal record as soon as you can because you never know when it can be used against you. Criminal background checks are now being done for most jobs in Canada as well as traveling to the US and volunteer and coaching.
Here is a letter we recently received from a client we helped to get a Canada Record Suspension for a domestic assault charge:
“If I’ve learned anything about going through the system, it would be that ignoring the situation or prolonging the process has an emotional impact as well as a social impact.”
“When you look on an application for employment you are basically trapped in that one question “…have you ever been convicted..” Even though you might be tempted to lie and say you have no record you can be fired in the future.”
“One of the largest problems in the system is that its not even a question of if you are qualified or not, but by saying yes, you are still disqualified because an employer takes a risk of being rejected from their insurance company if they hire you. Its a risk most employers won’t take.”
“The stigma that is attached to your criminal record can be a real headache. I stopped worrying about if it was worth it to get the pardon, and started to say I am worth it because I want a better job, I want to travel to the US and I want to have kids even if I have to adopt.”
“I am so grateful that Canada Record Suspension helped me in obtaining the necessary forms and helped me to get the application approved so that I never have to worry about my criminal record again.”
