Every employer in Canada is currently doing a criminal background check for new employees and even for existing employees who seek promotion. This can be a huge impediment to getting a job if you have an old criminal record that has not yet been pardoned or received a record suspension.
We receive hundreds of emails and calls each week from people who need to remove an old criminal record in order to get employment. Regardless if you are a PSW, nurse, truck driver, office worker or any other profession, the criminal record will get in the way. This is a shame because if you are trying to find a better job and can’t get it because of a shoplifting charge 20 years ago, its a huge embarrassment and obstacle to employment.
Many people are in shock when they are told they did not get the job because their criminal background check did not pass. They assumed the criminal record disappeared on its own which is simply not the case.
Once a Canada Record Suspension or Pardon is approved, then the criminal record is no longer available to the public and you can get whatever job you want without worry of the criminal record getting in the way.
