We often receive letters from clients to whom we have helped to obtain a Canada Record Suspension who have suffered from depression due to their criminal past.
One isolated incident that leads to an arrest and conviction can quite literally throw an otherwise healthy person into a depression.
Here is an exerpt from a letter we recently received from a person we helped to obtain a Canada Record Suspension for an assault conviction:
“I was a healthy hard working, career oriented, young white woman, at the top of my field, with a university honours degree and owned my own condo. I was completely demoralized by the way i was treated by the police and I went into a deep depression.”
“My self esteem and confidence is still extremely damaged by the Toronto Police Force, however the Canada Record Suspension that I was recently granted has helped me to see a light at the end of the tunnel.”
The relief of knowing that you are no longer labelled a criminal and knowing that your criminal record has been removed can be a very important step in breaking the cycle of depression.
